Innovation and smelting technology are crucial in the future of China's tin industry. As a co organizer of the 2015 China International Tin Industry Forum, Mr. Zhang Fu, General Manager of Yunxi Co., Ltd., pointed out the company's future development prospects at the conference.
Mr. Zhang Fu talked about how the Chinese economy is transitioning from a high-speed growth of 10% in the past to a stable growth of 7%. The Chinese economy is adapting to the 'new normal', focusing on quality and efficiency rather than speed and quantity. Yunnan Tin Industry Company believes that China's tin industry can adapt to the "new normal" and benefit from the innovative development and increasing demand of society, such as in the fields of photovoltaic cells and lead-acid batteries.
Yunxi is the world's largest producer of refined tin, with a tin production of 75924 tons in 2014. Mr. Gu Helin, Vice General Manager of the company, pointed out that Yunxi will continue to develop tin smelting technology and emphasized the importance of future cooperation with universities and research institutions. Automated control systems and deepening pollution control are key areas for improving tin smelting technology.
The amount of concentrate extracted from tailings areas and complex mineral deposits is constantly increasing, which is difficult to process using traditional smelting methods. Therefore, technological development is essential. Mr. Gu Helin believes that tin smoking technology has made significant progress in recent years. For several active tin projects, this technology is crucial. For example, the Mt. Gate project of the United Tin Mine is currently undergoing metallurgical testing using tin smoking technology.
